Author:

March is Women’s History Month, and we’re excited to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible women who not only drive the success of our company but also enrich our communities. These inspiring ladies break barriers and shape the future of EDCi with their diverse talents, perspectives, and leadership. Their dedication to innovation and resilience inspires us daily – driving us forward and contributing to our shared success.

Today, we are shining a spotlight on Kristin, a Senior Accountant at EDCi. Read along with us as she shares her advice, experiences, and so much more.

Kristin’s Journey

I am proud to be able to make a difference in the bottom line of a successful woman-owned company.  I have always enjoyed working with numbers and math and am thankful I get to do that every day.

The best way to support women in the workplace is to offer flexibility. This allows women to be active in their roles as mom, employee, daughter, etc.  I am grateful to have that here at EDCi. Women are more productive and loyal to a company that understands women have so many roles in their lives, leading to success in their work and personal lives.

Men have historically dominated management, but this is changing, especially in Finance. I have used my time at different companies to mentor with several managers at different levels both male and female. I have learned so much from them and hope to be able to offer this mentorship to the next generation.

I recommend taking the time to learn from your superiors. They are truly there to help you succeed. Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and fight for what’s right. Don’t be discouraged if things aren’t going at your planned pace; keep working hard to show others all you’re capable of. In the end, this hard work will be noticed and rewarded.

Who Inspires You?

One woman who inspired me is my mom. She worked full-time my whole life until retiring two years ago, so I’ve always had a great role model to look up to. The second woman who inspired who I’ve become is my Aunt Evonne. She worked at Bank of America for over 27 years and in Finance during my high school and college years, which helped lead me to a career in Finance. Lastly, my husband and kids inspire me every day.
