Todays Hot Topic ... Employee Engagement
If I go back to “pre-pandemic” and told you that Employee Engagement was the new hot topic, I think most of you would have agreed. There were many drivers at the time, but the primary one was that we couldn’t find the staff to fill the jobs available. Fast forward to today, and I believe that we are on a curve of exponential growth as it pertains to Employee Engagement.
There are several obvious reasons for this demand:
- The change to the work-from-home (WFH) model
- The increased cost of agent attrition
- The proven financial impact of an unhappy employee
I believe that we are on the cusp of an even higher demand for employee engagement. Again, I have read articles about the lack of available talent. Furthermore, as businesses begin to adjust to a WFH concept, we now must consider that businesses can hire from ANYWHERE to fill their open roles. An employee now has more choices than ever before when it comes to choosing a job that is a good fit. Of course, you will always find the people who are chasing the 5 cents an hour, but, generally speaking, an organization is going to need to focus on making their people want to stay. They are going to want their employees asking themselves “What if the grass isn’t greener on the other side”?
On top of this, we are getting to the point where people are just “done” with the current situation and people are getting fed up with the “temporary” way of doing business in the new world. We will need to get creative to keep these same people happy with our organization. Granted, these are just opinions.
What is a fact …
We are seeing a growing demand for employee engagement tools and concepts. EDCi is continually asked about how each project we take on can empower the agent – things like Digital Front Door, Analytics and WFH options. As such, our Envision event is focused on a variety of technology related ways in which we can help improve the employee experience. There are ways to directly address employee engagement as well as indirectly. We are going to take some of the leading topics in this event and focus on how each concept can help your organization, but also give it a twist on what it will mean to your agent.
