This week, we have the opportunity to celebrate National Intern Day at EDCi! It’s a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions and achievements of our interns. This year, we were thrilled to welcome five talented interns to spend their summer with us.

In this blog post, we’ll spotlight the valuable experiences they’ve gained, the skills they’ve developed, and the impactful contributions they’ve made at EDCi.

Meet our Interns

Emily, Marketing Intern

I’m an incoming junior at St. Norbert College in Green Bay! I’m attending school for a Business Administration degree focusing on Marketing and a minor in English. I’m on the SNC Dance Team, a dance instructor at a local studio, and a member of Kappa Beta Gamma.

Everyone I’ve met has been supportive, welcoming, and willing to help! Talking about our personal lives and work makes our employees seem more human, and I’ve built many strong connections throughout this internship. This summer, EDCi's flexibility was perfect for balancing my limited time at home with family and friends before returning to school. Being part of a smaller company allowed me to build meaningful connections and get to know everyone quickly!

I gained valuable insights into what the marketing world is really like. While I initially focused on social media, that isn’t all there is to marketing. I discovered the broader scope of marketing, including inbound and outbound strategies, analytics, and behind-the-scenes operations. I also learned about design, personalization, and branding. One standout experience was working on a marketing campaign.  My team trusted me to give it a go right off the bat, and creating graphics for an entire campaign was a lot, but looking back, I’m super proud of the work I created.

My advice to future interns is, even if you think it may not be your thing, try it out!! Internships are for learning and growing, so step outside your comfort zone and try something new!

Cody, Customer Experience Sales Intern

I’m a senior at UW Oshkosh and plan to graduate this December with a degree in marketing. While at UWO, I served as a two-year captain for the wrestling team and now coach youth wrestling clubs in Oshkosh year-round. In my free time, I enjoy selling wrestling shoes, watching wrestling, and going hunting or fishing.

My experience working with EDCi so far has been very rewarding. Our crew at EDCi has stressed the importance of ensuring I get as much out of this internship as possible. I mentioned wanting to learn sales and marketing techniques and complete tasks in that field. Since then, everyone at EDCi has worked together to help me accomplish this goal. My favorite memories so far are going to the office and connecting with everyone at EDCi. The high points of my internship include each time I successfully completed a sales and/or marketing task. Not only have I gained experience, but I’ve also helped save team members time to focus on other tasks, which is a win.

EDCi’s company culture is filled with strong leaders who are approachable, innovative, and always continuing to learn. Overall, I would define the company culture as very family oriented. Everyone is always looking out for each other, which allows team members to collaborate and communicate more effectively.

During my time here, I’ve learned how to communicate effectively, sales and marketing techniques, and how to manage my time productively. One piece of advice I have for students looking for a career or internship in technology is to be patient. Focus on learning as much as you can rather than focusing on what you haven’t learned yet, while also staying persistent.

Bailey, Marketing Intern

As a senior at UW Stevens Point, I’m currently studying Business Administration and Marketing, balancing school with hobbies like painting, video games, travel, motorcycles, and restoring classic cars in my spare time.

My internship has been incredibly exciting! I've been diving into blog and website keyword research using tools like SEMRush; gaining valuable experience in team collaboration, project time management, and refining my design and marketing skills. I've particularly enjoyed working within our brand guidelines to create various design assets.

The company culture at EDCi is very close-knit. They prioritize inclusivity and flexibility, ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported, especially when balancing work and personal life. They are family-oriented, and I’ve been welcomed to many team outings, including grill outs and team lunches.

For those interested in pursuing a career in technology or marketing, my advice is to keep an open mind and seize every opportunity.

Darren, Customer Experience Intern

I’ve been interning with EDCi since December of 2023. Outside of work, I coach football and weight training. In college, I also studied strength and conditioning, spending two semesters working with different athletic teams, implementing regiments, providing workout plans, and learning new knowledge in the field. Aside from coaching, I enjoy simple hobbies like exercise, hanging out with friends, and building embedded systems projects like Arduino.

Working with EDCi has been great! My team has been very supportive and always willing to lend a hand. The atmosphere here is caring and detail-oriented, which enhances communication and working on projects. I’ve been involved in experimenting with AI systems and gained valuable insights into the cloud frameworks that facilitate much of our work on a day-to-day basis. I'm learning to build on my strengths, challenge myself, and grow in a fast-paced, ever-changing industry.

In addition to their family-like culture, mentorship, and attention to detail - everyone has been exceptionally thoughtful and welcoming. At EDCi, each day can present a blend of consistency and something new. This dynamic opportunity offers both rewards and challenges. These experiences are essential for my personal growth and career journey.

For students looking for a career in technology, I recommend being comfortable, uncomfortable, and uncertain at times. Your passion will outweigh any inconveniences along the way if you are willing to feel uncomfortable in certain moments.

Kieran, Customer Experience Intern

I currently reside in Appleton with my wife and two daughters. I enjoy volunteering within my community and working with others. In my free time, I play tennis, make music and enjoy being outdoors.

I have greatly enjoyed working with the EDCi team thus far. It is a close-knit family with a people-centric approach to the workday. I would define the company culture in three words - "caring", "dedicated", and "hard-working". Despite working remotely, the EDCi culture remains personally connected and my favorite experiences have been when we meet up at the warehouse to celebrate the team and connect.

During my time here, I have had the opportunity to become trained and certified in Genesys Cloud and absorb the vast knowledge/expertise of my fellow coworkers. The people at EDCi are incredibly talented at what they do, and the greatest resource has been sitting in on meetings and observing their day-to-day. A significant highlight of my experience so far has been the mentoring I have received from Steve A. and the helpfulness and education from all the other team members I have reached out to.

My advice to anyone looking for an internship or career in technology is to not be afraid of taking chances or the prospect of change and uncertainty.
