Exchange Server 2010 End of Support is Coming!
Here’s what you need to know for ‘The Final Countdown’
Exchange Server 2010 end of support is just around the corner, now is the time to understand your options. When Exchange Server 2010 reaches its end of support on October 13, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide:
- Technical support for problems that may occur;
- Bug fixes for issues that are discovered and that may impact the stability and usability of the server;
- Security fixes for vulnerabilities that are discovered and that may make the server vulnerable to security breaches;
- Time zone updates.
So, what are my options?
1. Upgrade to Exchange Online / Office 365
This is clearly the preferred option as it will provide you the most feature-rich experience along with the ability to take advantage of all the features Office 365 can provide from a security, compliance and productivity standpoint. You are guaranteed the latest feature sets of Exchange Server without maintaining on-premises hardware, patching, load balancing, backup, certificates and maintenance.
2. Upgrade to Exchange Server 2016 or 2019
If you have the ability to run either Exchange Server 2016 or 2019 this may be an option. It does put you behind the curve as it relates to integration and feature sets that Exchange Online offers, but in some instances, depending on requirements, this avenue may be the one that is most viable.So, what are your next steps?
